A non-governmental Organisation, Uplifting Youths Through Agriculture, an affiliation of the Uplifting Women Through Farming (UWTF), has disclosed plans to convene a summit of traditional rulers and youths to deliberate on the agricultural potentials in many communities across the six geo-political zones. 

The founder and president, Uplifting Youths Through Agriculture, Mrs Afoma Clara Adigwe, said the summit had become imperative owing to the situation in the country, especially as it affects meeting the food demands of its growing population. 

Adigwe, who recently led a team of selected traditional rulers on a tour of different agricultural projects being handled by Thai Royal Communities, said traditional rulers were not just the custodians of their people’s cultures but those who understand the subject’s plights and are willing to do anything possible to ameliorate such.  

The Chief Executive Officer, Farmers Delight, who is also the Special Adviser to Uyota NGO, Mrs Toyin Jaiyeola, said the initiative, tagged: ‘Uyota Royal Agric Investment,’ was also designed to stimulate the formation of cooperative societies among farmers and team partnerships that would make it easier for the farmer to request loans from financial outfits.
