The Northern Youth Frontiers has reacted to the resolution of the House of Representatives calling on the Federal Government to suspend the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Farouk Ahmed, pending the conclusion of the investigations of allegations against what it called the unguarded statement by the CEO.

The resolution of the House followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by the member representing Esosa Federal Constituency, Edo State, Esosa Iyawe, during Tuesday’s plenary on the need to address issues arising from Farouk’s utterances about the nation’s local refineries.

Briefing newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, Amb Abdul Usman, Northwest Co-ordinator of Northern Youth Frontiers, condemned the decision of the House.

Usman said: “We are appalled by the House of Representatives’ resolution to sack the Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed, over alleged ‘unguarded comments’ on local refineries.”

The group demanded that the “House of Reps retract its resolution and uphold fairness.”
