The International Society for Social Justice and Human Rights (ISSJHR) has renewed its call for the creation of Anioma State in Delta North.

Chancellor of ISSJHR, Omenazu Jackson, in a statement on Thursday, said the demand for Anioma State is rooted in the desire for equity, fair representation, and development of the Anioma people.

“For Anioma, state creation represents recognition, inclusion, and a constitutional remedy to decades of neglect,” Jackson said.

The group said Anioma communities have continued to push for a state of their own to enhance political participation, strengthen cultural identity, and accelerate socio-economic growth within Delta North.

Jackson added that, in addition to state creation, ISSJHR is also advocating for a truth and reconciliation process that would promote healing, unity, and stronger national cohesion.

He stressed that the proposed Anioma State would serve as both restitution for historical experiences and a pathway to greater equity and justice within Nigeria’s federal structure.
