The South West Agenda for Tinubu (SWAGA), a political support movement in the South West, has expressed concern over the state of the 2025 budget implementation, particularly the performance of capital expenditure.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by its president, Otunba Adedayo Adewole, the group noted that as the country enters September, the implementation of capital projects under the 2025 Appropriation Act has yet to begin.

SWAGA emphasized that capital budget implementation is central to the delivery of infrastructure such as roads, hospitals, schools, water supply, power, and other public services that improve citizens’ lives.

“The Appropriation Act is not just a policy document but a key element of government’s social contract with the people. Capital projects are essential for progress and development, and their timely commencement is crucial,” Adewole said.

The group urged the Federal Government to take urgent steps to ensure effective budget execution, stressing that Nigerians are eager to see tangible outcomes from the 2025 Appropriation Act.

It also called on the National Assembly to exercise its oversight functions to ensure proper monitoring and accountability in the implementation process.

While reaffirming its loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, SWAGA appealed to him to prioritize fiscal measures that would restore confidence and deliver visible benefits to the people.

“The success of the administration depends on how well the budget translates into real projects that impact citizens’ lives. Nigerians are looking forward to progress in this regard,” the statement concluded.
