A non-governmental organization, Obaubazaw Community Worldwide, has unveiled plans to plant 1million trees yearly for the next ten years in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

At a press briefing yesterday in Abuja, Okobo of Obaubazaw, Bishop Johnson, said the project tagged “Green Life Abuja Revolution”, would be flagged off on February 10, 2024.

Johnson, who doubles as Chairman, Planning Committee of the project, said the event would be held in celebration of the birthday of the group’s leader, Chuks R. Otikpo, the Bazaw of Obaubazaw Community Worldwide.

“The project is Obaubazaw’s contribution to saving the planet for the future generations. It’s also aimed at helping the federal government in its effort to meet its commitment to the Paris Agreement.

“The Paris Agreement as we all know is a legally binding international treaty on climate change which was adopted by 196 Parties including Nigeria at the UN Climate Change Conference, Conference of Parties (COP21) in Paris, France, on 12 December 2015, and entered into force on 4 November 2016,” he said.
