The Junior Achievement, Nigeria (JAN) has said it would train secondary school students across the 36 states on the basics of businesses to inculcate entrepreneurial spirits in them.
The executive director of the JAN, Foluso Gbadamosi, during a virtual meeting, said the programme would be in partnership with Mixta Nigeria and run for seven weeks.

Gbadamosi said the programme would start from schools in Akwa Ibom, Lagos and Oyo states to expose senior secondary school students to the fundamentals of owning entrepreneurial ventures.
“During the programme, the students are also made to learn about advertising, competitive advantages, financing, marketing and product development as they continue to develop their product or service idea by analysing various sources of successful entrepreneurial ventures, culminating in their selection of a product or service as the basis of their business plan.”
She noted that the high rate of unemployment in the country called for the need to equip young students with the requisite skills to start and run their businesses. She added that catching them young at secondary school level is a strategic intervention that would reduce unemployment in the long run.
