The Food Hygiene Initiative of Nigerian (FHIN), a nongovernmental organization, has trained 350 officers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Food Preservation, Administration and Safety Practices.
The Director General of the initiative, Mr Nicholas Karimu, disclosed this during the graduation ceremony held at the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp Academy (NSCDC) in Abuja.
He said the overall goal of food hygiene initiative is for the achievement of safety practices to prevent food related diseases.
Karimu therefore called on the Federal Government to initiate policies that would guarantee food safety in the country, saying such policies would promote confidence in foods produced in Nigeria.
