A group under the umbrella of FCT Citizens Against Bad Governance (FCABG), has called on the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammad Musa Bello, to sack all his political appointees who are seeking for elective positions.

A statement signed by the coordinator of the group, Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf, which was made available to newsmen in Abuja, observed that majority of the minister’s appointees had not resigned their positions despite indicating interest to seek elective offices.

Yusuf also noted that despite the recent directive by the minister to his appointees to resign before seeking elective positions, they had remained in their offices, frustrating the smooth running of agencies and parastatals of the administration due to their frequent absence from their offices.

According to him, in a sane, democratic society, no political appointee can contest for elective position while still drawing emolument from government coffers.

“This is very explicit in our laws, which is why it is expected that all appointees of the FCT minister resign their positions before contesting for any elective position(s).
