The Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately investigate why military personnel were deployed to guard a private property, warning that such actions undermine the supremacy of civil authority and pose a threat to Nigeria’s democratic order.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, NCYP Chairman, Isaac Abrak, said the organization found it necessary to address the escalation that followed its earlier statement issued on Friday, November 14, 2025, titled: ‘Wike–Navy Confrontation: NCYP Warns Nigerians Against Undermining Civil Authority.’

He said, “We rightly urged Mr. President to investigate the matter to correct any wrongs.”

The chairman said the incident involving the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and the naval officer, Lt. Yerima, has escalated unnecessarily due to political actors exploiting the situation, maintaining that the Minister was carrying out his lawful duties and should not be targeted for political reasons.

“Instead of Nigerians appealing for de-escalation, calling on both the Minister and the military institution to offer mutual apologies and sheathe their swords, lowering the temperature, some individuals have chosen to heighten tensions through negative politics, including calls for the removal of the Minister from office,” he said.

The group also demanded Wike to issue an apology to the military institution for any inappropriate language and also demanded the Nigerian Navy to apologize to the Minister and prevent future obstruction of civil duties.
