Food Not Bombs, an activist group has urged Nigerian youths to give peace a chance for the development of the country, rather than calling for more protests.
The National Coordinator of the group, Mr. Idowu Israel, who spoke in Abuja, said it was the right of the youths to peacefully protest but that peace was crucial.
He appealed to Nigerian youths to desist from being used by “destructive elements working towards the disunity of our amalgamation”.
“We call on the youths and general public to desist from participating in any unpatriotic arrangement but rather, synergise with government and suggest ways of reconstructing the polity decapitated by the misconstrued #EndSARS struggle.”
Mr. Israel, who noted that individual businesses were destroyed during the protest beseeched the government to support the affected persons and ensure that they activate their livelihoods in earnest added that the message of their group is “no one should be without food in the world so richly blessed with land, sun and human ingenuity.”
“No consideration of money and no demand of profit should stand in the way of any hungry and malnourished child or adult in need,” he said.
The members commended the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu for managing the crisis that resulted from the #EndSARS protest.
