Group warns against planned protests in Zamfara, says move politically motivated

Socio-political group, Northern Socio-Political Rights Network, NSPRN, has urged those plotting to protest in Zamfara State on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, to desist.

NSPRN said the decision was politically motivated and planned to undermine Federal Government’s efforts at suppressing insecurity in the North.

The group’s President, Mohammed Lawal, in a statement, also asked the state government to work with the Federal Government in ending insecurity in the state.

The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to a plan to stage protests across Zamfara State and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, tomorrow, Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

“The said plot is allegedly sponsored in a bid to discredit federal government’s efforts and gains in the war on terror and also maliciously attack the reputation of Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, who is the honorable Minister of State for Defense.

“While we at the NSPRN are not unmindful of the security challenges in the state, we frown at the needless attempt to play politics with it, hatch wicked political plots, political witch hunts and curry sympathy and popularity with the pains of the people.

“We hope the organisers of the said protests will jettison the idea which will also dampen the morale of personnel of the nation’s security forces on the frontline. We pray for the sanctity of life and patriotism prevails in Zamfara State and Abuja tomorrow and beyond.”
