Several groups yesterday trooped out in their numbers on Makurdi streets to pledge their support for the Benue State anti-open grazing law as its implementation takes effect from today.
The groups have insisted that the Benue people will not give in to any form of intimidation from the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore who have allegedly threatened that they would converge on the state this month to resist the law.
The pro-implementation groups included Strict Movement Against Ravages in Tiv Land (SMART-LAND) joined by the leadership of the Yourba community, Igbo Community, Idoma nation and the Igede nation who staged a one-million man peaceful walk within Makurdi metropolis.
Speaking on behalf of others, the National Coordinator of SMART-LAND, Gbakighir Sevendagas, averred that there were no spare land anywhere in Benue to give to the cross border cattle herders as grazing reserves.
