Hope for Africa Development International Foundation( HADIF) and Odyssey Educational Foundation, in collaboration with Sani Bello Foundation, has trained 280 girls in entrepreneurship.

The girls, who were drawn from different secondary schools in Kontagora, Niger State, were taught how to make beads, soap, air freshener, disinfectant, shampoo, hair cream, Vaseline and insecticides at Sani Bello Foundation centre in Kontagora.

Speaking at the occasion, the founder of the foundation, retired Col Sani Bello, who was represented by the director general of the organisation, Mr ZakariIkani, said the organisations collaborated to contribute their quota towards the eradication of poverty.

He said the training was part of the organisations’ celebration of the girl-child.

“We want to help girls to be self-reliant after school rather than roaming the streets and falling into the hands of mischief makers,” he said.

 He added that there were programmes lined up for rural women which would be carried out in phases as from next year.

In his remarks, the director of programmes, HADIF, Don Chuks Uzochukwu, reiterated that the role of women should not end in the kitchen.

He encouraged them to embrace education which will enable them get roles in government and their various communities.
