A security guard, Mbaalanga Philip, was yesterday arraigned at an Ogudu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing 610 litres of diesel valued at N158,600, belonging to Real Strikers Security Services.
Mabaalanga, 23, of no fixed address, is facing a one-count charge of stealing his employer’s diesel from his duty post at SWAP 109, Ogudu Health Centre, Ojota, Lagos State.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that the offence was committed on March 24, 2017, and the complainant, Mr Ogungbenle Dimeji, a staff of Real Strikers Security Services, reported the matter at the Ogudu police station.
Ihiehie said: “The accused was on duty and, according to him, he left his duty post without informing the complainant. When he came back, he discovered that the pipe of the diesel tank was removed and the diesel was gone.”
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate, Mrs. F. Sule-Amzat, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till April 6, 2017 for further hearing.
