Gunmen on Saturday abducted two prominent sons of Oba Akoko, Ondo State, along the Ikun-Oba road in the Akoko Southwest local government area of the state.

The two victims are Surajudeen Alao and one other person yet to be identified.

Alao and the other abductee were said to be travelling in Alao’s car after they had attended the Ikun Day anniversary celebration when they ran into the kidnappers.

Sources close to the family said yesterday evening the kidnappers were yet to contact the family.

The Divisional Police Officer in  Oba Akoko, Superintendent of Police Ade Akinola, referred newsmen to the Ondo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Tee Leo Ikoro, for confirmation.

Ikoro, confirming the incident, said the Command had launched a hunt for the kidnappers, combing the bushes to rescue the victims.

The abduction came a few days after the state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, launched the  Amotekun Corps, who were understood to have teamed up with the police in hunting the suspected kidnappers.
