Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers  have abducted the acting secretary of the Local Education Authority (LEA) in Abaji Area Council, Umar Adabakpa Ugbada.

Our reporter learnt that the LEA scribe was abducted while driving to his village, Gwargwada, after closing from work at about 5pm in Abaji town.  

A cyclist, who simply identified himself as Usman, said the scribe was kidnapped along Atako-Nuku road, when the gunmen emerged from the bush with weapons and flagged down the Toyota Hilux van he was driving in. 

He said the six gunmen opened fire and bursted the vehicle’s tyre, which forced Ugbada to stop and they took him into the bush.

“I was coming from Atako on my way to Rubochi when I saw the gunmen drag out the man from his vehicle after they shot at the tyre and whisked him into the bush,” he said.

He said he immediately made a u-turn and rushed to inform some residents of Atako village about the incident, which he said prompted some youths to mobilize themselves with cutlasses to go after the gunmen in the bush.

Our reporter also gathered that a younger brother to Kuje LEA secretary, Bulus Danladi, and his security guard was also abducted last week Tuesday, at his village, Godozhi. 

The abductors are yet to release their victims.

When contacted, the spokesman of the FCT police command, DSP Anjuguri Manza, did not pick calls put across to him neither did he reply to a text message sent to his mobile phone.
