Gunmen in their numbers have stormed Kafin Soli village of Kankia local government area of Katsina state and abducted the wife of a popular bakery owner in the area, Ahmed Muhammad.
Muhammad is the owner of Safiya Bread based in Kafin Soli village.
Residents of the area told reporters that the gunmen stormed the village since 12am on Wednesday and operated for about three hours before abducting the bride to an unknown location using motorcycles.
A resident of the village said the gunmen were suspected to be on a reprisal mission following the arrest of five of their suspected informers by security agents some days ago.
“They are here for reprisal attacks because they are not happy that their informants’ identities were revealed to the security agents which led to their arrest,” he said.
He added that the security agents might have also used tracking device to trail the informants in a hamlets near Kafin Soli.
He said the bandits have attacked the village for about five times as a result of the information they were obtaining from their informants.
Police spokesman in Katsina, SP Gambo isah, confirmed the incident, saying police investigation was ongoing to ensure that the culprits were arrested and brought to book.
