Three weeks after the FCT Commissioner of Police visited the village chiefs of Rubochi, Gwargwada and Gwombe in Kuje Area Council over cases of kidnapping, gunmen on Sunday abducted nine villagers in Monu village in the council.
A family member of one of the victims, identified simply as Joshua, said the incident happened around 2pm when the victims were in a forest loading logs of wood into a truck, but that they later freed eight of the victims and held onto the wood contractor.
He explained that, “After they trekked for about three kilometers, the gunmen told eight among the victims to go back home; that they had gotten their main target.”
