Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted an electronic dealer identified as Abubakar Baga, at Naharati village in Abaji Area Council of the FCT.

A witness, who preferred anonymity, said the incident happened at about 10:30pm, yesterday, after the victim closed from his shop and was going back home at Naharati.

He said the victim, who sold  electronics was abducted in front of his house when he alighted from a motorcycle, explaining that the suspected kidnappers who arrived in an unmarked car were already waiting for the trader.

“The gunmen went and parked their vehicle close to the man’s house waiting for him and as he arrived on a motorcycle, they stopped them and pointed a gun at him. They bundled him into their vehicle and sped off,” he said.

The source said the kidnappers have contacted the relatives of Baga and were demanding for a N2 million ransom before the victim would be set free.

“As I speak, they are demanding for N2 million ransom, but the man who they are communicating with told them (kidnappers) that they will be given N500,000 but they refused,” the source added.

When contacted, the spokesman of the FCT police command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said he was aware of the incident, adding that he will contact the Abaji police division   and get back to our reporter later but he never did.
