The immediate former councillor that represented Gurdi Ward in Abaji Area Council of the FCT, Mohammed Ibrahim Tanko, six other members of his family and 11 others were abducted by gunmen in the early hours of Sunday at Tekpeshe community of the council.
City & Crime learnt that one person was shot dead during the raid.
A resident, Danlami Yakubu, said, “The former councillor visited on Saturday over the death of his uncle, Idris Ibrahim, and the bandits attacked the village on Sunday and whisked him and six of his family members away. They also kidnapped 11 others.”
The Etsu Yaba, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu, confirmed the abductions, saying, “I was in my palace when the DPO came to inform me about the incident.”
It would be recalled that on April 23, 2022, bandits invaded neighbouring Adagba community in Gurdi Ward, killed one person and abducted six others.
The spokesperson of the FCT Police Commandm, DSP Adeh Josephine, was yet to reply an SMS about the latest incident.
