Gunmen have abducted a businessman, one Alhaji Tukur Sabaru in Sokoto State. It was gathered that two women were hit by stray bullets in the process.

Daily Trust learnt that Sabaru was abducted on Monday night from his residence at Sabaru Village in Dange Shuni Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Muhammad Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident.

He said: “On 23-09-2019 at about 2025hrs, a distress call was put to the Kwannawa police out-station, saying that armed hoodlums in their numbers attacked the residence of one Alhaji Tukur Sabaru of Sabaru Village via D/shuni LGA.”

The PPRO added: “Reports showed that the hoodlums shot sporadically and abducted the said Alhaji Tukur Sabaru. Two women were hit by stray bullets in the arm each.”

He said the wounded were responding to treatment while assuring that efforts were on by the police to bring the perpetrators to book.
