The kidnappers of business woman, Bukola Awo, from Ejiba community in Yagba West LGA of Kogi State, have demanded N20 million from her family.

The victim, popularly called Bukky, and one other person were reportedly abducted on May 9, when hoodlums in their numbers stormed the village market with heavy gunfire.

A family source of the kidnapped woman confirmed receiving a call from her abductors, who he said warned them to provide the amount or risk the life of the woman.

The Member representing Yagba West in the House of Assembly, Idowu Ibikunle, who also confirmed the incident, said, “Some days ago, around 9pm, one business lady was kidnapped in Ejiba. The gunmen shot sporadically and took her to an unknown destination. They keep torturing the innocent lady in their custody. I am a father and I’m feeling the pains of that lady. The suffering is too much. We have raised about N7m. They said until we complete the N20m they won’t release her. Up till now the lady is still in their custody.

“The police, vigilantes and other security agencies have been struggling to secure her release but it has not yielded result. They don’t know their hideout.”

Efforts made to confirm the incident from the Kogi State police spokesman, SP Williams Aya, proved abortive.
