Gunmen demand N20m to release abducted headmaster, two others

Suspected kidnappers have demanded N20 million to release the headmaster of Kingdom Heritage School Egbe, in Yagba West Local Government of Kogi State, Abiodun Adeyemi and two others.

The headmaster was said to be in the same vehicle travelling for a burial ceremony with one Emmanuella, a nurse at ECWA Hospital Egbe, and Tosin, a trader in the town, when they were abducted on Kabba-Egbe Road Friday afternoon.

Daily Trust on Sunday learnt the incident happened between Idofin and Ejiba village along Egbe-Kabba road when their vehicle ran into the barricade of the hoodlums.

According to reports from the area on Saturday, the hoodlums had contacted the families of the victims, demanding N20m ransom before they can be released.

The locals noted that the car used by the victims was seen parked beside the road around 4pm on Friday afternoon with no occupants, and they were not seen at the burial ceremony.

This prompted the families of the victims to report the matter to the Divisional Police Headquarters at Isanlu on Friday, including vigilantes in the area with a view to establish their whereabouts, track the hoodlums and rescue them.

The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, was contacted but he promised to confirm the incident from the DPO of the area.
