Gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, have invaded a Fulani settlement, killing a herder and abducting one person in Shafa-Abakpa community in Toto Local Government Council of Nasarawa state.
A resident of the community, simply identified as Ishaq, said the incident happened around 11:34 pm on Friday in the area.
He said the gunmen in their large numbers with sophisticated weapons suddenly attacked the herders’ camp, during which a herder was shot dead on the spot and another man abducted.
“You know the Fulani settlement is not even far from the town, as the sporadic gunshots woke some people up that night to discover that it was kidnappers that attacked the herders camp,” he said.
He said the remains of the deceased was later buried.
When contacted, the spokesman for the Nasarawa state police command, ASP Ramhan Nansel, did not pick calls or reply to text message sent to his phone as at the time of filing this report.
