Gunmen invade Kwara community, kill one

Some unidentified gunmen on Saturday night allegedly attacked a farm settlement at Ahun village, Oro Ago, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
A teenage girl, identified as Rukayat, was killed in the process.
The situation has caused serious tension in the community, Daily Trust gathered.

Daily Trust also learnt that two other people sustained bullet wounds.
The condition of the wounded victims could not be ascertained on Sunday as at the time of filing this report.
While the motive for their action was yet to be established, incidents of kidnapping have been on the rise in southern communities of Kwara State recently.
The spokesman of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Babawale Afolabi, who confirmed the incident, said security has been beefed up in and around the community to prevent further attacks.
“The incident occurred around 8:00pm on Saturday night. The gunmen were in their large number and shot sporadically during the attack.
“A teenage girl, who was hit by a stray bullet, was killed in the process while two others that sustained injuries have been taken to the hospital for treatment,” he said.
He added that an investigation was ongoing and the command is working with the community leaders to get to the root of the matter.
