Gunmen have abducted a Benue State University (BSU) staff member named Matthew Chile, his wife and four siblings along the deteriorated Makurdi – Naka Road in the state.
According to witnesses, the incident occurred on Sunday around 6 pm while Chile was driving in his Toyota Corolla with his wife and four siblings, travelling from Naka, a rural town in Gwer West Local Government Area, to Makurdi.
It was gathered that as of Tuesday, the kidnappers had not made contact with Chile’s family, and attempts to reach him via phone had been unsuccessful.
BSU’s Head of Information Unit, Tse Vanger, confirmed the abduction to the media but stated that he lacked specific details.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Catherine Anene, acknowledged being informed about the kidnapping of a BSU employee known as Prince Chile.
“I was informed that one BSU staff was kidnapped. They call him Prince Chile. I do not know his department. But an investigation is already on,” the PPRO added.
