Gunmen kidnap Nasarawa poly lecturer

Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a lecturer of the Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic (IMAP) Lafia, Nasarawa State, Mr Shammah Yakubu.

Yakubu, who is with the Department of Business Administration and Management, was kidnapped by AK47-wielding men on Tuesday at about 8pm.

The victim is also the director of the Consultancy Unit of the institution.

Daily Trust learnt that he was kidnapped while returning home from work along Shabu road, in Lafia North Development Area of the state.

A source in the institution, who didn’t want his name mentioned, told our correspondent that, “Mr Shammah Yakubu was kidnapped while returning home from work.”

Also, a top official of the state-owned institution, who pleaded for anonymity, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, adding that security agencies in the state had been contacted about the development.

According to him, the institution had not heard from his abductors, but the relatives had been informed of the ugly incident.

When contacted on phone, the Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State command, DSP Rahman Nansel, rejected several calls made to his mobile line and did not respond to text message as at the time of filing this report.
