A professor at the Department of Medical Microbiology, University of Jos, Grace Ayanbimpe, has been kidnapped.
The professor and her husband when gunmen stormed their residence around Lamingo in Jos North Local Government Area of the state on Monday morning.

An official of the University, who does not want his name in print, confirmed the incident, saying, “This morning, we got information that Prof Grace Ayanbimpe of Department of Medical Microbiology was abducted from her residence along with her husband.
“Please, pray for their safe and quick release from their abductors. May we also see the end of insecurity in our country.”
A resident, Philip Dachung, told journalists, “The kidnappers came to their house around 3am, broke into their apartment and shot into the air. Neighbors who were terrified by sounds of gunshots could not come out for the fear of being hit by stray bullets.
“So, this morning, we discovered that the gunmen had taken the professor and her husband away. We don’t know where they are right now, ” he added.
Contacted the spokesperson of the state police command, Ubah Gabriel, said, “The Command received a report of kidnapping of a man and his wife, behind Stanel Oil Lamingo, Jos . Tactical operatives have been deployed to the area. Concerted efforts are on towards rescuing the victims and arresting the perpetrators.”
