Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have shot dead one person and abducted five others in Bwari- Sabo community in Tafa local government area of Niger state.
A resident of the area, who simply identified himself as Shuaibu, said the incident happened around 12:am when the gunmen in their numbers armed to teeth invaded the community.
He said the gunmen opened fire in to different directions after they combed some houses in the area, saying a resident who attempted to escape through the back door of his house was shot dead instantly.
According to Shuaibu, the Kidnappers attacked three houses, killing one person and whisked away five persons into the bush at gunpoint.
“The other victim who died actually attempted to escape through the back door, unknowingly, one of the gunmen who was hiding at the back yard now opened fire on him,” he said.
He said the deceased was later rushed to the hospital in the area where he was confirmed dead.
The Chairman of Tafa local government area of Niger state, Ibrahim Mami Ijah, confirmed the incident through telephone to our reporter, even as he declined to speak further.
“Actually, the gunmen invaded Bwari-Sabo around 2:am this morning but I can’t speak much for now as I am still in sober mind,” he said.
Daily trust learnt that Bwari-Sabo shares boarder with Bwari Area council of the FCT.
