In a similar vein, two herders were also killed in a reprisal attack.

Daily Trust on Sunday learnt that the farmers were attacked at Jenuwa Gida in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State on Friday.

It was learnt that the farmers were ambushed by the gunmen close to their farm.

National President of the Kutep Association, Mr Emmanuel Ukwen, blamed the attack on suspected herders.

He alleged that a few days before the killings, two Kutep youths were killed and a woman raped by suspected herdsmen which forced the youths to launch a reprisal attack, leading to the death of two herders.

Ukwen alleged that the Fulani herdsmen also launched reprisal attack and killed 10 Kutep farmers.

The chairman of the Miyyetti-Allah, Southern Taraba Zone, Yau Ibrahim Barewa, alleged that four Fulani herdsmen who were travelling from Takum to Kashinbila were attacked on their way to Kashinbila town by Kutep youths and two were killed while two others were wounded.

He also alleged that 15 cows were killed by the Kutep, adding that they reported the matter to Takum Police Division.

Yau Ibrahim said it was difficult to say who were actually behind the killing of 10 Kutep farmers since no arrest was made.

Police spokesman SP Usman Abdullahi confirmed that 10 Kutep farmers were killed around Jenuwa Gida in Takum Local Government Area by unknown assailants.
