Some gunmen went on the rampage in Imo State on Saturday, killing a father of four at a burial ceremony in Atta, Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state.
The victim was said to have been shot in front of his wife and children.
Our correspondent gathered that his killers fled the scene after shooting, leaving mourners aghast.
Eyewitnesses said policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer of Iho division arrived at the scene shortly after the incident.
Also, another set of hoodlums were said to have shot and killed an unidentified young man at Amaraku in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state.
Both incidents happened less than 24 hours after gunmen kidnapped an official of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The official, identified as Engr Kingsley Okorafor, was said to have been abducted early Friday morning in his residence in Umulogho, Obowo Local Government Area of the state.
Sources said his captors had contacted his family and demanded N10 million ransom.
A man, who simply identified himself as Collins, told our correspondent that the young man killed at Amaraku was his cousin.
He said, “I am in shock. My cousin was killed by yet-to-be-identified gunmen/kidnappers at Amaraku axis yesterday evening. I’m still in shock.”
