Gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, have reportedly killed two vigilantes at Oyo-Iwaa, a neighbouring community of Obajana in Lokoja Local Government Area ofKogi State.
The vigilante leader, identified as ‘Welfare’ and his colleague were reportedly killed in the attack on Oyo-Iwaa on Sunday night.
A source from the community said the hoodlums also abducted a woman, Mrs Ruth Williams, after killing the two vigilantes during an exchange of fire.
Irked by the death of the vigilantes and the abduction of the woman, the youth took to the streets of Obajana, blocking entries and exits to the communityon Monday.
“My cousin, who was kidnapped last month in this Oyo -Iwaa, said these kidnappers were in groups, parading our land in military uniforms. They occupy the houses/Ruga of Fulanis, who they have displaced,” Daramola, one of the protesters said.
The protesters appealed for Jointforce of the Nigerian Army, Air force, Navy and others to be deployed to the area to stop the incessant raids on the community.
The statePolice Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), ASP William Aya, did not respond to calls and text messages sent to him on the incident.
