Gunmen have killed three officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) while on duty in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Daily Trust learnt that the attack occurred last Friday, around 8:30pm, when six officers of the agency were on duty at one of their posts around the main gate of the Federal College of Education (FCE) Okene.

It was gathered that the gunmen ambushed the patrol team, killing three of the personnel identified as Onwumere Nicholas, Peter Ebun and Abdulrahman Musa, while the three others escaped.

Witness said the gunmen carted away two rifles belonging to the deceased officers.

Kogi State Commander of the NDLEA, Alhaji Idris Bello, confirmed that the command lost three of its men while on patrol in Okene.

Bello added that the NDLEA in collaboration with other sister agencies in the state have put all necessary plans in motion to arrest the perpetrators of the killing.
