No fewer than four miners were on Saturday shot dead at a mining site in Dong village, Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State.

Daily Trust gathered that the gunmen stormed the mining site and opened fire on miners, killing four, while others fled into the bush.

The spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, ASP Gabriel Ubah, confirmed the attack, saying the personnel of the command had been deployed to the area to restore law and order.

ASP Ubah said, “The command is aware of the incident at Dong and investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack and to arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act.”
