Gunmen kill civil servant in Edo

Gunmen suspected to be herders have killed a civil servant and farmer, Inofomoh Gabriel, in Jattu community in Uzairue Clan in Etsako West LGA of Edo State.

It was gathered that the victim, a staff of Auchi Polytechnic, went to his farm on Wednesday last week but didn’t return home.

A source said that the community became worried after two days of his disappearance as there was no information on his whereabouts, coupled with the fact that one contacted his family for ransom.

He further said, “It was on Saturday that his corpse was discovered in the bush with several machete cuts.

He added that they were suspecting herders who had been kidnapping farmers on their farms in the area and in some cases killing their victims.

When contacted, the Edo State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said he would get back our correspondent after contacting the DPO of Jattu.
