Gunmen kill farmer, abduct 6 family members in Kaduna

A ginger farmer, Alhaji Awwalu, has reportedly been shot dead by bandits in Dagwagwar village in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.

A resident, Muazu Dan-Asabe, who confirmed the incident through telephone on Tuesday, said that around 12am last Thursday, the bandits on motorcycles went to the farmer’s house and shot him dead and proceeded to neighbouring Gidan-Busa village, near Akilbu village, along the Abuja-Kaduna highway, where they abducted six family members.

He said, “The bandits entered one Malam Saidu Barau’s house and whisked away six of his family members, but the man himself, who was their main target, was not at home when the incident happened.”

A community leader who spoke with our reporter through telephone, confirmed the killing and abduction, adding that two villagers were hit by the bandits’ bullets while trying to escape.

The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, was yet to confirm the incident.
