Gunmen have reportedly killed a farmer at Olakpoga community of Entekpa Council Ward in Adoka District of Otukpo LGA of Benue State.

Locals said that the incident happened on Sunday morning during an attack on two communities in the area.

The locals said that the gunmen attacked Ipepe and Olakpoga communities of Entekpa council ward in Adoka during which they killed one person from Olakpoga.

Caretaker Council Chairman of Otukpo LGA, Alfred Oketa Omakwu, in a telephone conversation with our correspondent, confirmed the killing of the rural farmer.

Omakwu said the two communities -Ipepe and Olakpoga – were attacked at about 11am on Sunday, noting that the casualties could have been more if not that most of the people had deserted their villages over repeated attacks in recent times.

He said that the victim went to farm to get some food for his family at the time the gunmen struck his community and he was killed.

Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Catherine Anene, said she does not have the information.
