Gunmen kill four villagers in Adamawa

Gunmen have attacked Gubla village in Madagali Local Government area in Adamawa State, killing four persons.

A resident told Daily Trust that terrified villagers fled to the bush during the attack which lasted for several hours  on Monday night.

An EYN Church, the pastor’s official quarters as well as several houses were also burnt during the attack.

“Luckily for the people they escaped to the bush when they heard gun shots in the night. If they had not acted fast, the casualty would have been much higher. It was a terrible experience because they remained in the town for several hours”, he said.

He identified the victims as Kadir Bigi, Ijai Vigi, Kwandiyi Ijabuya and Abbas Ijaduwa while those whose houses were razed include Alhaji Abbas, Yaza Abula, Ijayi Didi and Ijada Yaga.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Madagali Local Government, Maina Ularamu, said four people were killed and more than ten buildings including a church were set ablaze by the insurgents.

He called on the Federal Government to deploy more troops to the area which has been attacked severally in the past.

Attempt to contact the Army Public Relations Officer of the 23 Brigade Yola, Captain Jafaru Nuhu, was not successful as he did not pick calls put to his phone.
