Suspected gunmen have reportedly killed a local hunter identified as Baba Musa at Rafin-Daji community in Abaji Area Council of the FCT.
A resident of Rafin-Daji, Yahaya Adamu, said the incident happened on Saturday, when the corpse of the hunter who went for hunting was found in the bush.
He said the deceased, who was a renowned hunter in the community, left for hunting on Friday but did not return home, and the family raised an alarm.
He said on Saturday, around 11am, the family of the deceased alerted some vigilantes, who went in search of him and later discovered his body in the bush.

“Actually, the deceased always went for hunting in the bush, especially on Friday nights, for animals to return on Saturdays, until last week when he left home but didn’t return,” he said.
A member of the vigilante, identified as Dangana Ayuba, confirmed the incident, saying the deceased was shot dead by suspected gunmen while returning home in the early hours of Saturday.
He said the body of the hunter was riddled with bullets, which led the vigilantes to suspect that the deceased was killed by gunmen.
He said the body of the hunter was evacuated back home and buried by the family.
Our reporter reliably gathered that the late hunter had on two occasions foiled the rustling of cattle when he alerted some vigilantes at neighbouring Gasakpa village, after attempts to invade a Fulani settlement in the area.
The spokeswoman of the FCT police command, SP Adeh Josephine, had not reacted to the incident at the time of filing this report.
