Gunmen kill Kwara farmer, dump body inside bush

Gunmen who kidnapped a farmer, Alhaji Ibrahim Ayinde, in Kwara State, have shot him dead over the inability of his family to raise money for his release.

City & Crime gathered that he was kidnapped at the weekend when five gunmen stormed his house in Eruku, Ekiti LGA, beat his wife and whisked him away with his car.

Vigilantes and youths who later combed the bushes for his rescue met his body with his intestines protruding from the spot where he was shot.

Although farming in Eruku, the deceased was said to be from Asalapa, Isale Banni in Ilorin West LGA.

It was gathered that three suspects have been arrested by the vigilantes and that they have confessed to the killing, while two are still at large.

The suspects, it was further learnt, were disappointed with the Ayinde’s plea that he had no money after they had been “briefed” by one Saabi, their leader, that he (Ayinde) just cashed money from a motorcycle he sold.

Although several calls made to the spokesperson of the Kwara police command, Ajayi Okasanmi, for reaction were not answered, the state’s vigilante Commander, Alhaji Saka Ibrahim, confirmed the incident during a telephone chat with our reporter.

He said, “Yes, the vigilantes in Eruku have handed them over to the police.”
