Gunmen suspected have killed a man, Ilabeshi Okhale, and abducted his two children at the Kalabar Quarters in Afokpella community in Etsako East LGA of Edo State.
A source said, “When he came out to investigate why power had gone off from his generator, they attacked him, inflicting fatal machete injuries. The gunmen thereafter abducted his twin children, Emmanuel and Emmanuella, both aged 16. They later demanded a N100m ransom.”
The spokesperson of the police in the state, Eno Ikoedem, said police operatives stormed the scene upon receiving the information and rushed the victim to Ajie Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
She further said, “His body has been deposited at the Santa Maria Morgue in Jattu for an autopsy.”
She added that a combined team of the police, army, Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), hunters and vigilantes carried out an extensive bush-combing exercise which led to the rescue of the children unhurt.
