Gunmen have reportedly shot one Alhaji Saidu Dantasaku to death when they invaded his village, Dantasaku in Gwadabawa LGA of Sokoto State. 

The village head, Alhaji Mohammed Bello Aliyu, said the victim was shot as he came out of his house after hearing gunshots. He said he died while being taken to hospital. 

He said the gunmen stormed the village riding on over 10 motorcycles. They raided some shops and carted away many valuable items. 

Aliyu added that it was not the first time the village had come under attack. He said during previous attacks, the gunmen stole their animals and other valuables. 

Police Public Relations Officer, Sokoto State Command, Ibrahim Abaras, who confirmed the incident said investigation was on. 

He added that policemen had been deployed to the area to ensure protection of lives and property.
