Gunmen have shot and killed a Point of Sale (PoS) operator, Raphael Eletanye (38), in the Upper Uwa Street area of Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State.
The robbers, who were reportedly operating out of a mini-bus, stole an undisclosed amount of money after shooting the victim.
Sources said the gunmen approached the PoS stand under the pretense of withdrawing cash before opening fire on the operator and fleeing with his money.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, ASP Eno Ikordem, said the attack occurred on January 3, 2026, at about 10pm.
Ikordem said the police received a distress call that a PoS operator had been attacked and that: “The police immediately mobilised to the scene and rushed the victim to the hospital, where he was unfortunately confirmed dead.
