Gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, opened fire on a vehicle and injured a middle aged woman, identified as Asibi Danlami, at Rubochi – Tika junction in Kuje Area Council, Abuja.
A witness, who identified himself as Enoch, said the incident happened last Thursday evening around 7:12 pm when an unmarked vehicle was conveying some women traders from Abaji market on their going back to Rubochi.
He said the driver suddenly rammed into the gunmen and attempted to escape, causing one of the gunmen to open fire on the vehicle as the bullet hit the woman on her right arm.
“Although, the driver still managed to escape despite the shot at his vehicle, one of the passengers who is a woman was hit by the bullet,” he said.
He said the victim was immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Rubochi, but was later referred to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in Gwagwalada, where she was undergoing treatment.
The spokesman of the FCT police command, DSP Anjuguri Manza, did not pick calls put across to him at the time of filing this report.
