Gunmen on Monday afternoon at the Sabo-Oke area in Ilorin East LGA of Kwara State attacked one Mr Abu Sifau in his Lexus jeep and robbed him of cash worth millions of naira.

It was gathered that the robbers, numbering four, with masks, fired sporadically before pouncing on their target.

A resident, Mr Ola, said the robbery was carried out at about 1pm in the full glare of residents.

He explained that, “The armed hoodlums, four of them, who were in a Toyota Camry (Muscle), trailed the Lexus jeep marked, “Sarkin Samarin Bacita”, on the number plate, double-crossed it and took away cash said to be about N6m inside a bag.”

He said although no one was injured in the attack, the police later accompanied the two victims in the jeep to the scene of the robbery.

Another witness said the robbery was at the Sabo-Oke, near an abandoned refuse disposal truck of the state government which he noted that the community earlier called for it to be towed away from the community.

The police spokesman in the state, Okasanmi Ajayi, said, “The matter has been directed to the CID. Details of the investigation would be available accordingly.
