The Chairman-elect of the Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT, Mohammed Kasim Ikwa, has assured staff of the council of improved welfare.

Ikwa stated this when he received the executives of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in the FCT, led by its president, Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim Kabi.

The union was on a congratulatory visit to the Chairman-elect following his victory in Saturday’s chairmanship election.

He told the union executives that as a two-term former chairman of NULGE in the council and former vice chairman of NULGE in the FCT, staff welfare would be given top priority by his administration.

“I want to assure the FCT NULGE executives that, as a former committed trade unionist, my administration will ensure that the rights, dignity, and entitlements of workers across Gwagwalada Area Council are protected,” he said.

He thanked the union executives for the visit and assured them that his administration would foster synergy between the council and the union for the betterment of workers’ welfare.

Earlier, the FCT NULGE president, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Kabi, said he led the delegation to congratulate the Chairman-elect and expressed confidence in his capacity to deliver, especially on matters concerning workers’ welfare.
