Gwar currently leads the goal scorers chart in the Nigeria Premier League with 16 goals four less than the record set last term by Jude Aneke when he was with Kaduna United.

Since the beginning of the season, the stocky Benue born striker has been consistent in scoring goals and his present coach, Tenger says he would have been disappointed in the technical crew of the Super Eagles, if his lad was not invited to fight for a jersey in the team.

According to Tenger, the former Lobi Stars, Enyimba FC and Kwara United star is simply the best striker on the domestic scene this season as he argued that the mark of a good striker is the one who scores goals consistently.

He said at a stage, he began to wonder why Gwar was not handed an invitation to the Eagles even when it became so clear that the team’s major problem was its inability to score goals.

Coach Tenger who has handled at least five different NPL clubs said even though he had worked with so many strikers, he would not hesitate to say the new Eagles invitee is among the best.

“I lack words to express my happiness over the invitation Keshi has extended to Sibi Gwar. It is better late than never. At a stage I was beginning to wonder if there is somebody in the national team who does not like his face.

“This is a striker who has remained very consistent in the business of goal scoring since the beginning of the season. When Eagles were struggling to score goals in their Nations Cup and World Cup qualifiers, I kept wondering why they could not give him a chance”.

Tenger expressed confidence that if assigned the right role in the team, Gwar will surely justify his invitation saying he is a player with enormous experience.

“I have no doubt in my mind that he will warm his way into the heart of the coaches. He is a highly technical player and if given the right role, he would not disappoint.

“Sibi is playing his best game at the moment and this is a golden opportunity to make claim for one of the shirts in the Eagles”, he noted.

The veteran coach also noted that there are more quality players in the domestic league who can prove themselves in the national team, if given a chance.
