Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo has emerged the North West Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after defeating his opponent, Mohammed Yusuf, by 426 votes to 313.
Daily Trust reports that the North West congress of the PDP which took place at the Sir Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna on Monday was a spillover of last year’s congress which ended in chaos.

Sponsored thugs had in April last year invaded the venue of the congress and snatched ballot boxes while destroying infrastructure which led to the suspension of the congress.
However, while announcing the results on Monday night, the chairman of the Electoral Committee for the North West congress, Senator Attah Aidoko Alli, commended delegates and security agencies for the smooth conduct of the elections and described the process as free and fair.
He said all other positions were won unopposed through consensus.
