Writers Helon Habila, Leye Adenle, Chigozie Obioma, Zukiswa Wanner, Ayobami Adebayo and many others have made the guest list of this year’s Ake Book and Arts Festival.
The festival, themed ‘Black Bodies and Mental Health’, is set to take place from October 24 to 27 at Alliance Francaise/Mike Adenuga Centre, Lagos.
Ake festival, previously held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, had its first outing in Lagos last year. Now in its seventh year, the primary goals of the festival are to “promote, develop and celebrate creativity on the African continent through a series of events during the festival. These include panel discussions, workshops, bookchats, plays, poetry events, concerts and performances.”
A hundred authors, poets, artists, storytellers, dancers, actors, musicians and thinkers across Africa and beyond are expected at this year’s event.
