Helon Habila, a Nigerian, has been selected among the judges for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize 2016. He is an associate professor of Creative Writing at George Mason University, USA and is known for his novels ‘Measuring Time,’ ‘Oil on Water,’ and ‘Waiting for an Angel.’  
In a related development, Commonwealth Writers, the organisers of the Commonwealth Short Story Prize, are inviting Kiswahili, Portuguese and Bengali writers to submit their stories in the original language.
The prize is open to writers from all Commonwealth countries, Nigeria inclusive. Writers are expected to send short stories of not more than 5000 words. The deadline for manuscript submission is November 1, 2015.
